CONTRACTORS

Next to Piazza del Plebiscito, the symbol of Naples, stands the Italian temple of opera, the Teatro di San Carlo, predating Milan's La Scala by 41 years, and Venice's La Fenice by 55. Built in 1737 by King Charles III of Bourbon, the theatre was a testament to royal power and remains one of the world's most renowned opera houses. The planning for the restoration and adaptation of Teatro di San Carlo, undertaken to meet the scheduling needs of the contracting authority and theatre management, focused on the availability of areas and spaces slated for intervention, aligned with programmed activities. The scheduling of the execution of the work took into account a specific timeframe for the internal restoration interventions at the Teatro di San Carlo, as well as the refurbishment of heating, electrical, water-fire prevention, and stage equipment systems. The project also encompassed functional adaptations, including the replacement of stage flooring and hall parquet, restoration of the ceiling and Cammarano canvas, and repairs to the proscenium arch's agremano, intrados, and extrados. Additionally, work covered the proscenium clock, stalls' basement, orchestra pit balustrade, passage vault, and localised repairs to vaults, arches, and walls. The service further entailed the adaptation of apartments in Palazzo Cavalcanti, designed for singing training activities and representative events, and the Vigliena Laboratory housed in the former Opificio Cirio.
