For SAB, it was a privilege to work on the most significant creation of our illustrious fellow citizen, Guglielmo Calderini, who designed this imposing monument 130 years ago. The landmark symbolised the “new” Rome, which at the time had recently become the capital of the Kingdom of Italy. The project entailed the restoration and enhancement of energy efficiency for the building located in Rome’s Piazza Cavour, which houses the Supreme Court of Cassation. In particular, the energy efficiency criteria were met with primary energy savings of at least 20% over the NZEB requirements, and 70% of recyclable demolition waste, aligning with the criteria of the PNRR plans. The development and design choices carefully considered the need to respect the building's architectural and historical characteristics, as it is protected under monumental heritage laws pursuant to Article 10 of Legislative Decree no. 42/2004 with Ministerial Decree 07.30.1971. Additionally, the project took into account the environmental constraints of the urban context.
