In its initial stage, the project unfolds within an urban setting in the towns of Induno Olona and Arcisate, entailing the expansion and doubling the existing single-track line. To mitigate disruptions caused by this work, the line was lowered below ground level. The planning included various elements along the line: trench and embankment sections, trench sections between diaphragms, two artificial tunnels totalling 150 meters, two natural tunnels (Induno Tunnel and Bevera Tunnel), as well as two bridges: the Baranzella Bridge spanning 39.86 meters and the Bevera Bridge spanning 438 meters, with significant cross-sectional works to reduce interference with existing traffic. Specifically, within the urban section, the project includes plans to enhance transit routes currently affected by six level crossings. This involves constructing new overpasses or underpasses and cycle-pedestrian passages to improve connectivity between the two parts of the territory divided by the railway line. In the suburban sections, the project features underpasses and overpasses to reconnect disrupted rural roads. As part of the line, new passenger buildings designed in a "bridge" style are planned for the Induno Olona and Arcisate stations, as well as the new Gaggiolo stop. These structures will be situated over an underlying trench and will serve both commercial purposes and passenger amenities, ensuring ample comfort for travellers during their wait. The principle behind the new station design is driven by the desire to provide users with a distinctive and easily recognisable identity. Each platform, situated within the trench, is accessible via two sets of stairs and a lift for disabled customers. The stations' bridge configuration, accessible from both sides, facilitates pedestrian connections that overcome previous barriers in the urban layout, enhancing overall accessibility and integration.
