The building, located on the Tripoli seafront, was erected in the 1920s as the headquarters of the Banca d’Italia in Libya. Prior to its renovation, an extensive architectural survey meticulously assessed the building's typological features and areas in need of restoration. The renovation project focused on the building's façades and its three floors. Internally, after a thorough analysis of structural loads and conditions, the redesign included the restoration of mosaics and integration of damaged decorations. Significant attention was also given to reorganising interior spaces to better suit the new requirements, as the existing layout and dimensions of the bank's volumes did not align with the new purpose. Consequently, the entire system of equipment was reengineered to meet the needs of the updated functions.
