Reconfiguration of Satellite A at Terminal 1 of Milan Malpensa Airport, increasing from 10 to 13 Gates and contact stands.
The project involves the architectural and infrastructural redevelopment of Satellite A and the aircraft apron at Terminal 1 of Malpensa Airport. The redesign of the Satellite includes a new functional distribution layout, featuring the addition of 13 gates, each with its own pre-boarding area. To enable on-foot boarding and disembarking without the use of loading bridges, each gate is equipped with a vertical connection structure, consisting of a fixed staircase and an elevator.
As part of the aircraft apron redevelopment, the project includes modifying the layout by eliminating the loading bridges and creating 13 parking stands designed for narrow-body aircraft such as the B737 or A321, with boarding and disembarking exclusively on foot. This substantial change to the apron layout also involves the installation of new pre-conditioning and 400 Hz systems, optical guidance systems, and upgraded lighting systems.
