The executive project involves the redevelopment of Castiglione del Lago Hospital through the construction of new, expanded buildings and extensive internal renovations of existing structures. The goal is to modernise the facility to meet evolving healthcare needs, enhancing the quality of services provided to users. The hospital complex, owned by the Municipal Administration, is situated just a few meters from the Town Hall. It primarily serves inpatient and outpatient activities under the management of the Regional Health Service. Located within the city walls of the municipal capital, it spans an area between the central Piazza Gramsci, where the town hall is situated, and the monumental Rocca area. The complex occupies a significant position both within the historical and artistic context and in terms of service accessibility, set amidst a picturesque landscape with direct views of Lake Trasimeno, offering a panoramic view of the surrounding areas. The project includes enhancements to both the main building and the Medicine building. Expansion affects both properties, while internal renovations primarily focus on the historic building with minimal updates to the Medicine building. Another key aspect of the project involves constructing a new stretcher lift system with fire safety features, connecting the external road system to various levels of the main hospital building. The connection with Via Belvedere (traffic outside the walls) was made possible with the creation of a complex underground tunnel, whose design and executive solutions were shared with the Archaeological, Fine Arts and Landscape Superintendency of Umbria. The main works planned for the volumes being expanded concern demolitions, removal of walls and finishing works, fixtures and systems. In the areas undergoing renovation, the main works mainly concern the demolition and reconstruction of plasterboard partitions and finishes such as flooring, coverings, paintings, false ceilings, internal and external fixtures. The structural foundation works are made of reinforced concrete, while the elevated structures utilise metal profiles. The external infill for the expanded volumes consists of dry-laid elements. The engineering works encompass electrical and specialised systems, water-sanitation systems, heating and air conditioning systems, as well as elevator-related installations, covering both renovated areas and expansions.
