The building, located on the Molo dei Bersaglieri, is the result of the transformation of the first of two warehouses (41 and 42), originally used during Habsburg rule primarily for storing wines imported from the Kingdom of Italy.   The project involved renovating and converting Hangar n° 42 into a Maritime Station. As part of the intervention, a new glass structure was added to facilitate vertical circulation between the roof level and the platform level via elevator shafts and staircases. Given the significant historical and industrial significance of the site, despite the structural degradation assessment, it was decided that while the concrete frame needed complete demolition, measures were taken to preserve the integrity of the walls and perimeter frames concurrently. The typological characteristics of the internal load-bearing elements of the building were preserved by reconstructing them in their original positions, maintaining the same cross-sections but employing techniques that ensure a higher level of safety, particularly against seismic activities.
