The project aims to transform the disused area of the former Town Hall into a completely pedestrianised urban space that enhances social interaction and city services in Rodano. This redevelopment will accentuate the historic centre’s role as a social hub and create a 3,000 m² urban park featuring a play area, fitness zone, and picnic spots. The architectural concept preserves the memory of the site's rationalist style, reinterpreting its design elements and spatial logic. The result is a stereometric volume that echoes the original structure's form and compositional hierarchy, engaging with the surrounding context through thoughtful use of materials and colours. The new complex features a hierarchy of diversified functions, spanning from public-private realms to shared spaces, and includes a variety of proximate and communal areas. It accommodates five apartments, co-working spaces, a multipurpose room, spaces for sports and music activities, and three rooms available for tertiary use. The building serves as a "functional block," with a “dug out” interior courtyard that functions as a public square. This courtyard is overlooked by the residential units on the first floor, embodying a modern interpretation of the Milanese railing houses. Render credits: Matteo Margutti visual artist
