The intervention focused on restoring a building from the early 1960s that had fallen into significant disrepair, along with the revitalisation of the largely abandoned surrounding spaces, defined by unremarkable architecture. This area serves as a vital link between the historic centre of Cannobio, the town's outskirts, and the downstream areas leading to the stunning shores of Lake Maggiore. The design solution focused on creating a pedestrian pathway connecting the main town to the expansive green area adjacent to the Parish Garden, Piazza Angelo Custode, and the former Youth House. This pathway would ultimately lead, through a series of charming historical alleys, into the pedestrian zones along the lakeside. The multifunctional building, intended for use as an auditorium and headquarters for social services, was redesigned and expanded to create an architecture with strong, instant urban recognition, with a design that takes into consideration formal integration and socio-cultural content. A meeting and social gathering place requires a distinctive and unique image whilst maintaining a convivial and manageable scale to foster the right atmosphere for successful recreational and hospitality activities.
