The "Palazzina Liberty" constructed between 1920-21, is a building of approximately 3,000 cubic meters, protected by the Superintendence for Architectural, Historical, and Artistic Heritage. Located on the eastern edge of the Garden of Piazza Dante in Trento, the intervention included the establishment of a new youth library with two reading rooms on the first and second floors, and a meeting room on the ground floor. Additionally, an ice cream shop and bar were incorporated into the building, maintaining its original purpose as a welcoming space. The design quality was thoroughly addressed and resolved, both structurally and aesthetically. The project involved the complete demolition of the existing building, preserving only the perimeter walls, and the restoration of the facades. Additionally, the volume added to the west was redeveloped to harmonise with the original structure. Given the building's significant historical role, the typological characteristics of its internal load-bearing elements were preserved, and the frames were reconstructed to closely match the existing ones. The design approach for the North and South facades incorporated the 1935 project, continuing the existing mouldings to crown the new terraced volume. For the western facade, the original 1921 project was referenced, effectively addressing the connection between the building and the park.
