The project encompassed extensive renovation work including seismic upgrades, electrical and HVAC system adaptations, compliance with fire safety regulations, and enhancements in energy efficiency to ensure the usability and safety of the Liceo Artistico Musicale Coreutico “F. Casorati” located on Via Greppi in Novara. Situated in the city's historic centre, the real estate complex occupies a substantial portion of the block bordered by Via Greppi, Via Silvio Pellico, Corso Cavallotti, and Via dell'Archivio. The historic buildings of the Maddalena complex are spread over two levels, with an underground area beneath part of the southern wing, organised around two courtyards. Around these courtyards dedicated exclusively to the Scholastic Institute are situated classrooms, laboratories, administrative offices, and a range of support services. The project involved an extensive survey campaign and preliminary analyses for the design process, beginning with historical-artistic archival research and extending to structural and morphological analyses of the existing conditions. These findings were meticulously documented in a BIM environment and enhanced through verification procedures using photogrammetric surveys and 3D point clouds, enabling the extraction of photoplans and perspective sections.
