The project for the extraordinary maintenance of Student House Pavilions C and D emerges from a meticulous analysis of the surroundings. Every intervention is guided by using human scale as its benchmark. Respect for the historical significance, the preservation of local culture, and memory are paramount. The construction of existing spaces, materials, and intricate details are reevaluated and reinterpreted. Furthermore, the architecture is informed by the territory, surrounding landscape, and climatic conditions, ensuring a harmonious integration with its environment. Architecture assumes a pivotal role, paving the way for recalibrating the surrounding landscape and reinterpreting adjacent urban voids, considering, for instance, the park that links the university residences, the rectorate, the Aula Magna, and the "TO" Pavilion. The Student House occupies one of the most attractive sites in Perugia, steeped in history and significance, forming a "university campus" within the city. These buildings, currently serving as student accommodation, are poised to evolve into a vibrant “knowledge citadel”, accommodating advanced research facilities and fostering broader cultural engagement. The primary objective of the intervention was to address structural deficiencies comprehensively, aiming for substantial enhancement in the structure's resilience against seismic activity. Concurrently, the project aimed to maintain the current function as student housing while enhancing the services provided to users. This improvement encompassed residential amenities, as well as educational, research, cultural, and recreational support functions. The construction of housing and residences for university students must ensure conditions that enable their presence in the city where the university is located in order to facilitate attendance, supporting both residential functions and related support services, as well as educational, research, cultural, and recreational activities. Moreover, the housing service should promote the social and cultural integration of students into city life. The university residence project adheres to the "Minimum Dimensional and Qualitative Standards" and follows the "Guidelines for Technical-Economic Parameters for the Construction of Housing and Residences for University Students" as stipulated by law nº. 338. Accordingly, the project was developed in compliance with these regulations and organised by functional areas.
