The analysis of the building's current condition and its historical and documentary evidence revealed a complex artefact that preserves within its walls a record of the events that shaped its current form. The idea of converting the building into a "Rural Village and International Centre for Research, Documentation, Training, and Cooperation for Rural Development" aims to revive its traditional functions of hospitality, dining, education, and museum activities, intrinsic to Rocca di Casalina’s origins. This intervention emphasises the reinforcement and adaptation of the existing structure in order to meet modern regulatory and functional requirements, whilst preserving the integrity and spatial arrangement of the original building. Furthermore, due to the building's status under the supervision of the Superintendence, the primary goal was to preserve its architectural and structural elements in compliance with current regulations concerning structural stability and intended function. The project activities were articulated into separate functional zones: the museum area on the first level, the educational area on the second level, the leisure and refreshment area on the third level, and the reception area on the fourth and fifth levels.
